HERMITAGE, Pa. - The Mercer County Food Bank (MCFB) is hosting a community event known as "Stuff the Truck" to help feed those facing food insecurity in Mercer County.

MCFB's Truck will be parked at D’Onofrio’s Food Center in Hermitage on Saturday, June 29 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to collect non-perishable food donations.

According to a press release, the food bank will be accepting all non-perishable food items, except those in glass packaging, during the event. The most needed food items include canned proteins, vegetables, fruits, peanut butter, cereal and pasta.

“Stuff the Truck donations are all kept local to feed our neighbors in need throughout Mercer County,” said Rebecca Page, Executive Director of MCFB. “Feeding America released its Map the Meal Gap hunger study, revealing an increased need throughout our one-county service area.”

According to MCFB, 15,410 people in Mercer County, including 4,390 children, are considered food insecure, not knowing where their next meal will come from.
