Unveiling ceremony to be held for Youngstown Walk of Fame Thursday evening

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The City of Youngstown will hold an unveiling ceremony of the Inaugural Youngstown Walk of Fame Thursday evening.
The ceremony will occur at the Wean Park Walking Path near the Market Street Bridge Thursday, July 4 at 5:00 p.m.
The Walk of Fame project launched back in 2023 and aims to celebrate Youngstown's rich history and notable figures. The first of these to be honored was music group Kool & The Gang whose founder Robert "Kool" Bell and his brother Ronald are from Youngstown.
Kool & The Gang's permanent marker on the walk of fame will be revealed during Thursday's ceremony.
Additionally, the 2024 honorees along with the official Youngstown Walk Of Fame sign will be revealed at the event.
Following the celebration there will be food trucks starting at 6:00 p.m. and fireworks will be set off from the Market Street Bridge once it gets dark. Guests are asked to bring their own lawn chair for this event.
Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown is quoted in a press release saying the city is thrilled to celebrate its legacy and honor those who have contributed to its cultural and historical fabric.
"This event marks a new tradition of recognizing the individuals and groups that make our city proud," Mayor Brown said.
