Niles Police: 15-year-old confesses to fatal shooting at party
A teenager is under arrest, accused of a Fourth of July murder in Niles.
According to Police Chief Jay Holland, officers went to 311 High Avenue just after 11 p.m. Thursday after a woman called 911 to report that her boyfriend had been shot.
Police found 23-year-old Brandon Bork lying in the driveway. He had been shot in the head. The victim was taken to a hospital where he died.
Chief Holland says the shooting followed a fight at a party that was taking place at the address.
Police say as officers were interviewing witnesses, a fifteen-year-old boy confessed to the shooting. He was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Justice Center where he’ll face a murder charge.
Investigators say Bork arrived at the party uninvited and confronted another man before he was shot.
Police contacted the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation for their assistance.
Holland calls the shooting an isolated incident, adding there is no danger to others.
