Trumbull County Fair gets underway Tuesday
The 178th Trumbull County Fair is only days away. Vendors are at the fairgrounds early to set up rides, game, and concessions.
Dale Wesche with Lisko Family Midway Amusements said he's seeing a lot of new rides and vendors this year.
"We're here getting everything, set up. We're going to have almost 20 vendors set up for everyone, food games, all sorts of vendors will be here. It's going to be a good time at the Trumbull County Fair," said Lisko.
The commercial building has 39 different vendors. A lot of these vendors are small businesses and are completely new to the fair.
Rob Williams, owner of Awesome Aquatics, has been setting up aquariums at the Trumbull county fair for three years, and says it's a great way to discover smaller businesses around the valley.
"It's a great spot, especially for newer business that want to advertise and show that they exist, and you can see them here," said Williams.
Although there are many new vendors, some have been coming to the Trumbull county fairgrounds for years.
"Trumbull County Fair is our best fair that we do out of all of our fairs. It's a smaller fair, everything is including when you pay to get into the gate," said Melissa Campbell, owner of G&G Concessions.
Campbell has been a vendor at the fair for over 30 years, and offers sandwiches, hot dogs and lemonade.
The Trumbull County fair was awarded over $100,000 in state grants, which went towards improvements all across the fairgrounds.
"We've done a lot of improvements this year in the fairgrounds that everybody will see. We've got new bathrooms on the fairgrounds and the commercial buildings, there's new roofs on a lot of our buildings, there's a new entryway on the grandstand dedicated to Bud Rogers," said Kiersten Holmes, board director for the Trumbull County Fair.
Holmes said more animals and vendors are expected to be at this years fair.
The Trumbull County fair will start Tuesday, July 9, and end Sunday, July 14.
