The summer festival season is in full swing, and the communities of both Girard and Niles are preparing to host their annual Mount Carmel festivals this month.

The Girard Mount Carmel Festival kicks off Friday, July 12 at 6:00 p.m. and will run through Tuesday, July 16 at the Italian Fraternal Home on Wilson Avenue in Girard. Festival hours are 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. each night and admission is free.

Live performers include Cin City & the Saints on Friday, Common Ground on Saturday, Dead Flowers on Sunday, and Blue Collar Band on Monday.

Tuesday's festivities celebrating the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel on July 16 will begin with a parade at the Italian Fraternal Home at 10 a.m., followed by Mass at St. Rose Catholic Church in Girard at 11 a.m. The Girard Swingtime Band will perform from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30pm and the Blue Coat Band will play from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The festival will conclude with fireworks at 11 p.m.

The Niles Mount Carmel Festival kicks off Thursday, July 18 at 6:00 p.m. and will run through Sunday, July 21 at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles. Festival hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday, and 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is free.

Live performers include French Blue + 2 on Thursday, Random Strangers on Friday, Cin City & the Saints on Saturday, and Vegas Band on Sunday.

Both festivals will have a variety of attractions, food and Italian cuisine, games, rides, and raffles.
