Trumbull County Children Services honored one of its own with a major dedication Monday afternoon.

The organization dedicated its residential treatment center to its former executive director of 12 years who started his career as a childcare worker in residential services.

The Timothy E. Schaffner Residential Treatment Center offers short-term housing for kids dealing with trauma where they can get counseling and recreational services.

TCCS leaders say that after all the work Schaffer has put into the organization, he's deserving of the dedication.

"It's only fitting because Tim's super power is his relationship with kids and the we gets them," TCCS Executive Director Marilyn Pape said. "He would walk the halls here once or twice a day making real connections with the kids. They didn't know him as the executive director, they knew him as Mr. Tim."

Schaffner just finished up an almost 50 year career in social work and child development, retiring in February.
