We now know why police were called as flames raced through a home on Youngstown’s Southside last week.

Police say a woman who had been living with the owner of a house on the 3600 block of Neilson Avenue confessed to setting it on fire last Tuesday.

When firefighters found flames pouring from the house early last Tuesday, they reported that a woman was walking toward the fire saying “Take me away.

The man living at the home told police he met Marlyne Celestyn in Columbus and had been letting her stay with him. He claims she had previously set a couch on fire.

Police say when they took the woman to a hospital for a mental evaluation, she said “I did it.”

Celestyn was later moved to the county jail and arraigned on a felony count of aggravated arson.

Another court hearing is set for next week.
