Austintown business victim of $40K credit card refund scheme, two charged
One woman is under arrest and police are looking for another suspect charged for allegedly using a credit card machine and the internet to steal $40,000 from an Austintown business.
Thirty-six-year-old India Rodriguez of Niles was arraigned in Mahoning County Court on Wednesday on felony charges of theft and telecommunications fraud.
Police believe Rodriguez and another woman used 11 different credit cards to claim 47 unwarranted refunds from the account of a Javit Court business.
The police report says the refunds ranged from $300 to $6,278 and were claimed between last October and this past April.
Rodriguez, who didn’t enter a plea during the hearing, is due back in court on August 8.
A judge has issued a warrant for the arrest of a second suspect, a 35-year-old Warren woman, who faces the same charges as Rodriguez.
