EAST PALESTINE, Ohio - More help will be coming to eligible businesses in East Palestine.

That's because the Ohio Controlling Board has approved more than $1 million for the East Palestine Emergency Support Program.

The program was created to provide loans to businesses impacted by the Norfolk Southern toxic train derailment that happened last year.

Up to $5 million is available for 0% interest and businesses can apply for loans ranging from $10,000 to $1,000,000 per business, according to the Ohio Department of Development's website.

Loans can be used to assist with ongoing expenses and recovery efforts following the disaster.

Eligible businesses include those located within a 2-mile radius of the village located there before the derailment on February 3.

To date, loans have been issued to 23 East Palestine businesses totaling $3.77 million.
