New law requires U.S. Flags flown by federal government be American made

A bill requiring American Flags purchased by the federal government be 100% made in America is now law.
The All-American Flag Act, which was introduced by Sen. Sherrod Brown, was recently signed by President Joe Biden and now takes effect in 180 days.
Before this bill, the federal government was only required to buy flags that had just 50% American-made materials. This meant that flags flown at government buildings like military bases - could be made in foreign countries like China.
U.S. census data shows that in 2016, imports of American Flag topped $5.4 million. Of that, $5.3 million of those flags was imported by China.
Now all flags purchased must be made using materials 100% sourced in America.
"American flags - bought with American taxpayer dollars - should be made in America, period. And now they will be," Brown said.
