Ohioans can now add driver's license, ID card to Apple Wallet

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine alongside Lieutenant Governor John Husted announced on Wednesday that Ohioans can now add their driver's licenses or ID cards to their Apple Wallet.
Ohioans can present their IDs with Apple Wallet for use at various businesses, in various apps and at TSA checkpoints.
Additionally, the state launched a free age verification app for businesses to use to securely and privately accept mobile driver's licenses and ID cards in person using an iPhone.
To add your license or ID card to your Apple Wallet, simply hold your iPhone or Apple Watch near the reader. The device will then display the information after authorizing with Face or Touch ID.
Since the information is already presented digitally, you do not need to hand over your device to present your license or ID card.
Additionally, once your ID has been added to your apple wallet, information is encrypted on your device so others, including Apple cannot access it unless a user chooses to present it.
Apple and the state licensing authority do not know when or to whom you present your license or state ID.
Businesses who wish to use the age verification app should download the Ohio Mobile ID Check app and follow the steps within the app.
In order to make use of this technology, you must have an iPhone 8 or newer device with iOS 16.5 or later installed or an Apple Watch Series 4 or later with iOS 9.5 or later installed.
