Monthly natural gas bill increasing for National Fuel customers in Pennsylvania

ERIE, Pa. - Natural gas prices in Pennsylvania will be going up starting Thursday.
According to the release, National Fuel submitted its annual adjustment to gas supply charges to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission, leading to an increase in monthly bills.
A typical residential customer with an annual usage rate of 99,300 cubic feet of gas will pay $7.40 more, increasing bills from $64.72 to $72.12.
Natural Fuel says the increase in gas supply charges is because of higher market prices for natural gas.
The company says the adjustment is lower than the increase projected in Natural Fuel's annual Purchased Gas Cost filing in December 2023.
At that time, Natural Fuel projected average monthly bills of $87.98.
Pennsylvania companies are allowed to update gas supply charges on a quarterly basis.
The next potential change to supply charges will be on November 1.
