Nearly five years after taking over operations, the owner of Lowellville's Carchedi's Café has announced that he is shutting down daily restaurant operations.

Owner Mike Romeo Jr. made the revelation on Facebook, saying the focus of the East Water Street business will be shifted toward catering and events in the coming weeks.

Change is sometimes necessary in business, even when our hearts resist it. Carchedi’s has held a special place in my life, so when the chance to buy it arose, it was an absolute no-brainer. Among all the businesses I've owned, this one has been the most challenging, but the people I've met along the way have made every challenge worthwhile.

When Romeo took over in 2019, he retained the restaurant’s decades-old menu which included wedding soup, pasta, greens, beans, and hand-rolled meatballs made with veal, beef, and pork.

Romeo said Carchedi’s will still be present at the Car Show and already scheduled catering events.
