Milton Township leaders will hold a special meeting Friday night to discuss a feasibility study for the township's fire department.

Milton Township Trustee Dave Tomaino tells 21 News the township is looking to make some improvements to its fire department without asking residents to pay any more money.

Tomaino says the department is small and doesn't have a big budget and that the department is experiencing staffing issues. Tomaino went on to say the price of equipment repairs is getting more and more expensive.

That's why a feasibility study is being conducted to find out the pool of money the township has and how to use it more efficiently.

As it stands, the department has limited staffing with six to seven part time EMS workers with limited availability since some work other jobs. As for firefighters, all of them are volunteers..

A meeting to discuss the feasibility study and what could possibly be done to address the issue will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday.
