Valley dispensaries to begin selling recreational marijuana Tuesday here's all you need to know
Marijuana dispensaries across Ohio will begin selling recreational marijuana on Tuesday, August 6. Here's everything you need to know.
Four dispensaries in the Mahoning Valley will begin selling recreational marijuana. This includes FRX Health in East Liverpool, Green Leaf Therapy in Struthers, Leaf Relief in Youngstown and G Leaf Medical Cannabis in Warren.
This means that beginning Tuesday, folks in the Mahoning Valley age 21 years old and over can freely buy recreational marijuana. However, there are still some limits on how much you can have and where you can use it.
Ohioans are reminded that under Issue 2, which passed in November of 2023, they are allowed to possess a maximum of 2.5 ounces of cannabis in any form except for adult use extract.
Ohioans may possess up to 15 grams of adult use extract.
Additionally, much like alcohol laws, Ohioans will not be allowed to drive while under the influence of marijuana or have an open container of it in their vehicle.
Ohioans are also not allowed to have marijuana outside of their homes or designated areas where it is allowed.
When it comes to what forms of cannabis you can purchase or possess, the law allows for the following forms:
- Plant material and seeds
- Live plants
- Clones
- Extracts
- Drops
- Lozenges
- Oils
- Tinctures
- Edibles
- Patches
- Smoking or combustible products
- Vaporization of products
- Beverages
- Pills, capsules and suppositories
- Oral pouches, oral strips and oral sprays
- Salves, lotions or similar cosmetic projects
- Inhalers
When it comes to purchasing marijuana in Ohio, customers will be charged a 10% sales tax on their purchase.
According to AP, the revenue from this tax will be split between administrative costs, addiction treatment, municipalities with dispensaries and paying for social equity and jobs programs supporting the cannabis industry.
