LORDSTOWN, Ohio - The Lordstown Local School District and the Teacher's Union have not made a deal for a new contract as the 2024-2025 school year approaches.

According to a release from the Lordstown Teacher's Association, union members overwhelmingly rejected the district's last proposal on July 19.

The union said the offer was voted down because it didn't go far enough in terms of compensation and working conditions when compared to other neighboring school districts.

Since rejecting the offer in July, the two sides have not been back to the bargaining table.

The union says its ready to resume negotiations but the district has not committed to any further bargaining sessions.

"Despite our current disagreements, we know that district officials share the same goal as our members: to negotiate a fair contract that allows our schools to continue to recruit and retain quality educators," the Teacher's Union said in a statement.

As of this writing, a bargaining session hasn't been scheduled.
