YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - America Makes is hosting it's annual MMX: Members Meeting and Exchange event that welcomes innovators and manufacturers from across the country.

One of the discussions Tuesday was 3D printed homes that are gaining popularity nationwide.

Azure Printed Homes co-founder Gene Eidelman spoke at the event. The Los Angeles based company believes there are many benefits to 3D printed homes including cost, time efficiency and its positive environmental impact.

"3D printing is a way to build things much faster," Eidelman said. "It's less expensive and easier to customize and we use a material that's a combination of recycled plastic and fiberglass. For every module we print, for every 180 square foot unit is 150,000 bottles."

The second day of the event will feature the Youngstown Business Incubator and include discussions on space, America Makes technology updates and small businesses.
