WARREN, Ohio - The Community Family Outreach Complex (CFOC) in Warren is using funds from its American Rescue Plan grant to help those in need.

Through its 2024 Summer Crisis Program, the CFOC purchased 42 new air conditioners and 28 dehumidifiers to give out to seniors, low income residents and people with disabilities.

The purchases were made after the Community Center was overwhelmed by the number of people in the community with COPD, asthma, lupus, cancer and other ailments who do not have air conditioners or dehumidifiers.

The CFOC has been in contact with local churches, senior citizen agencies, the health department and charities to notify those who could use assistance.

CFOC members will distribute the appliances this Sunday, August 11 at 1 p.m. at its center, located at 2075 Highland Avenue SW in Warren.

Those eligible for an air conditioner or dehumidifier must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Households with a member age 55 or older
  • Household member under the age of 60 with a medical condition
  • Proof of residency

To apply, you must provide a proof of income for all household members aged 18 and older, a social security card or birth certificate for all household members and copies of your most recent utility bill (heating, electric or water).

For an appointment, call 234-806-3018. If there is no answer, leave a message and a representative will call back to schedule the date and time of a face-to-face interview.

The appliances will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
