Stretch of Bikeway in Austintown closing for two weeks
AUSTINTOWN TWP., Ohio - Bikers, hikers, and skaters planning to use the MetroParks Bikeway for the rest of August will find part of the trail blocked off.
Beginning Thursday, August 15, 2024, the MetroParks Bikeway between Kirk Road and New Road, including the Fox Chase Spur Trail, will be closed for improvements and resurfacing.
Work will include removing existing asphalt, and resurfacing the trail with new asphalt, topsoil, and compacted aggregate along shoulders.
Completion of the project is anticipated to take approximately two weeks. Bad weather could delay the completion date of the project.
The MetroParks Bikeway is an 11-mile paved trail from Western Reserve Road in Canfield Township to the Mahoning County/Trumbull County Line in Austintown Township.
It connects with trails in Trumbull and Ashtabula Counties.
