Two early morning shootings reported in Warren, one leads to chase through Niles

For a second night in a row, Valley law enforcement was involved in a chase.
This time, Warren Police chased a car possibly linked to a drive-by shooting on that city’s Eastside.
According to a police report, officers responded to the 1600 Block of Oak Knoll Ave. SE shortly before 6:00 a.m. for a report of gunfire. When they got there, police found multiple bullet holes in the side of a home and a vehicle.
Multiple shell casings were also found in the roadway.
Police say several other officers got into a chase with the suspect vehicle. The pursuit went toward the City of Niles, where an officer reported seeing someone throw an AK-47 rifle and possibly a pistol from the window along Main Street, south of the city.
In addition to the three Warren Police cruisers, police from Weathersfield and Niles joined the chase.
The chase ended a few blocks away in Niles at West Park and South Chestnut Street after the car's tires were flattened by spiked strips placed in the roadway by police.
Police arrested four suspects, some of them juveniles according to police. Offenses listed in the report include improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation or school, carrying concealed weapons, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle and failure to comply with the signal or order of a police officer.
A backpack and the rifle were found along the side of Route 46 near Niles Iron and Metal.
The police report did not mention anyone being struck by the gunfire during this incident.
Just hours before this shooting and chase, a separate shooting was reported shortly before 3:00 a.m. on the 200 Block of Forest Street where police found one victim struck by gunfire.
Four suspects were named in this shooting with two of them also being named as suspects in the chase.
Late Wednesday, several agencies chased a car in Mahoning County which ended with one arrest and the seizure of nearly 89 pounds of methamphetamine.
