Midnight deadline nears for East Palestine derailment claims
People eligible to file a claim for part of the $600 million Norfolk Southern derailment settlement only have until 11:59 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2024.

YOUNGSTOWN - People eligible to file a claim for part of the $600 million Norfolk Southern derailment settlement only have until 11:59 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2024.
A final approval hearing for the settlement is scheduled for September 25th.
If approved, payments could go out by the end of the year at the earliest.
Anyone living within 20 miles of the derailment, who didn't opt out is eligible to apply for the settlement.
