Part of West Middlesex bridge reopens to westbound traffic following repairs from December crash

WEST MIDDLESEX, Pa. - One lane of the bridge that carries Route 318 over Interstate 376 and the eastbound ramps in West Middlesex has reopened to traffic.
According to a press release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT), the westbound lane of the bridge opened to traffic on Monday, August 26.
Meanwhile, eastbound traffic must continue to use the detour, which is posted using Route 18 and I-376. In the meantime, the eastbound on and off ramps for I-376 at Exit 1C reopened Thursday, August 22.
The westbound off ramp is open, but the westbound on ramp is closed as work continues to raise the profile of the roadway to meet the higher vertical clearance of the new bridge.
These repairs come after a truck crashed into the bridge back in December of 2023 causing PennDOT to remove parts of the bridge. An emergency project soon began to replace the bridge.
The westbound lane of the new bridge and the westbound ramp of I-376 are expected to open later in the fall.
