Youngstown City Council is slated to begin discussion over $600,000 in American Rescue Plan funding to rehabilitate and improve Borts Field and the MVSD playground.

Some long overdue improvement projects could be making their way to two recreational areas on the city's westside.
Youngstown City Council is slated to begin discussion over $600,000 in American Rescue Plan funding to rehabilitate and improve Borts Field and the MVSD playground.
While details are sparce regarding what this money could be used for, 4th Ward Councilman Mike Ray says it will go toward new equipment and repairs to the park.
"These parks have lacked capital investment for decades," Ray said.
At this time, it's not clear what other improvements will be made to the areas or when construction could be slated to start.
The proposal for the funding goes on its first reading Aug. 29.
