Project proposed to replace Berlin Station Road Bridge in Berlin Township

BERLIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio - The Mahoning County Engineer's Office has proposed a project to replace the Berlin Station Road Bridge over Turkey Broth Creek and Berlin Lake between Bedell Road and Pricetown Road in Berlin Township.
The existing bridge was built in 1943 and has never undergone a major rehabilitation since.
The proposed project would replace the current two-lane bridge with a new two-lane bridge with four-foot shoulders on each side. It would also replace the pavement on each end of the bridge, as well as the bridge's guardrails.
The project would cost $1,813,245 and is expected to begin in the fall of 2025 and be completed by early 2026.
During the construction period, Berlin Station Road will be closed to traffic for a maximum of 180 days. The detour will utilize Bedell Road, West Akron-Canfield Road and South Pricetown Road.
A local traffic detour will also be established to maintain access for emergency and public service vehicles.
Access will be maintained to all adjacent properties, homes, the Berlin Lake Recreation Area and the Berlin Lake Wildlife Area and Public Hunting Land. The project will not result in any impacts or access restrictions at either of these properties.
Approximately 83 feet of Turkey Broth Creek, as well as some trees on both sides of the river will be impacted by the bridge replacement.
The Mahoning County Engineer's Office is seeking comments from the public on the proposed project. Those with any comments or concerns should contact Bob Durbin at 330-799-1581 or bdurbin@mahoningcountyoh.gov.
