Youngstown Air Reserve Station's new plane debuts at Cleveland Air Show
The Youngstown Air Reserve Station made its public debut at the Cleveland National Air Show.
Air Force Reservists, assigned to the 910th Airlift Wing landed the recently acquired C-130J-30 Super Hercules aircraft at Burke Lakefront Airport last weekend.
Guests got an up-close look at the brand-new plane and talked with aircrew and maintenance personnel.
Airmen also performed demonstration flights in one of the wing’s C-130H Hercules aircraft during each day of the air show.
The 910th welcomed the first of eight new C-130J-30 aircraft to YARS during an on-base arrival ceremony on July 16.
The Air Reserve Station will replace 8 existing C-130H aircraft ranging from 1989 to 1992 models. The airlift received those C-130s in 1994.
The C-130J model uses state-of-the-art technology, can fly further, carry more cargo, and hold more personnel. The aircraft can also climb faster and higher.
It's valued at a total investment of $878 million for the 910th, YARS, and the Mahoning Valley. With the new Super Hercules Aircraft, the future of the Air Reserve Station is expected to be secure for years.
