Man fatally shot in officer-involved shooting in Youngstown identified
We've now learned the name of a man who was fatally shot in a police-involved shooting at a Dollar General in Youngstown Tuesday evening.
The Mahoning County Coroner's Office identified the man as 50-year-old Shane Linderman. An autopsy was conducted at the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office.
The incident happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Dollar General store in the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue in Youngstown. According to a Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) representative they arrived to the scene around 6:45 p.m.
Police said Linderman stabbed himself along with another woman there. When police got to the scene, the female victim had a severe stab wound and was unresponsive.
Linderman was shot by an officer and then died at the scene. Meanwhile, the female is in critical condition at the hospital.
Investigators said the crime scene was "pretty complicated."
BCI is partnering with the Youngstown Police Department to investigate the officer-involved shooting. The officers involved in the incident are currently on paid administrative leave per department policy.
Police have not released the name of the suspect at this time.
