Boston Red Sox radio announcer Joe Castiglione is retiring at the end of the season after 42 years of calling the team's games.

The 77-year-old announced Sunday's WEEI broadcast as Boston played the New York Yankees.

Castiglione started his career at WFMJ TV in 1972 as a sports reporter.  

He'll remain with the team in an honorary ambassador role.

Castiglione received the Hall of Fame's Ford C . Frick Award for excellence in broadcasting in July
