Zekelman industries is celebrating its new addition in Warren, its new Matter automated Warehouse. The warehouse is part of the Wheatland Tube in Warren, and will help the manufacturer continue creating a life saving product.

Members of Zekelman Industries celebrated the unveiling of the Matter Warehouse, which is able to hold up to 14,000 tons of pipe and automatically move it into a truck loading area with minimal team interaction.

The touchless product handling is meant to increase safety, order fulfillment speed, and overall shipping capacity.

Barry Zekelman, CEO of Zekelman Industries, said the addition will allow the company to create more tubes while keeping them in a stable environment.

"Our fully automated warehouse, which is allowing us to store our product more efficiently with no touches, keep people safe, keep it out of the environment, and make it available to our customers almost at a moments notice," said Zekelman.

The pipe being stored at the new fully automated warehouse is used to make products such as sprinklers. Shane Ray, president of the National Fire Sprinkler Association, thanked the manufacturers for their role in making the life saving product.

"To all in the sprinkler business, to our contractors and suppliers, manufacturers in all that you do. Guess what? You'll save more lives in 20 years in this building, in this business, than I did in the 20 years riding in the right front seat," said Ray.

The ribbon cutting also featured a burn demonstration to show the importance of fire sprinklers.

This demonstration showed a sprinkler can stop the fire in seconds, significantly decrease fire damage and help stop a fire from spreading while firefighters are on the way.

"The demonstrations were fantastic. What they've invested in our community, not only saves lives, but it also saves jobs, which are both important, " said Doug Franklin, Warren mayor.

Zekelman industries has been part of Warren since 2006, and has continued expanding the Wheatland Tube plant.
