A Canfield man who was accused of raping two women in Kent has been sentenced on less serious charges.

According to court records, 23-year-old McCoy Watkins was sentenced to one year in jail followed by five years of probation on two felony counts of gross sexual imposition.

He must also register as a tier 1 sex offender for 15 years upon release and must undergo a mental health evaluation.

Watkins also must be employed full time following his release from jail and maintain that employment over the course of his probation.

Originally, Watkins was charged with two counts of rape and one count of burglary but those charges were dropped as part of a plea deal.

The charges stemmed from an incident from November of 2022 when he allegedly raped two women aged 18 and 19 years old.
