The man who was determined to be the triggerman in a deadly home invasion that claimed the life of a four-year-old boy in Struthers is appealing his conviction.

According to court records, 21-year-old Brandon Crump has appealed his sentence for the murder of four-year-old Rowan Sweeney back in September of 2020.

Judge Anthony D'Apolito sentenced Crump to 52 to 53-and-a-half years in prison on charges of aggravated murder, attempted murder, aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, conspiracy, robbery, escape and firearm specifications.

Court documents do not give a reason for the appeal.

Crump is one of three men convicted in the murder of four-year-old Rowan Sweeney during a home invasion back in September of 2020. Several others including co-defendant Andre McCoy were severely wounded in the incident.

The incident stemmed from McCoy planning a robbery with co-defendant Kimonie Bryant. From there, Crump got involved and went to the house with Bryant where he shot and killed Sweeney.
