Grand jury doesn't indict in alleged attempted kidnapping; Alliance suspect facing drug charges

RAVENNA, Ohio - A suspect arrested in Columbiana County for allegedly trying to kidnap an 11-year-old boy in Alliance no longer faces charges of attempted kidnapping or obstructing official business.
The Stark County Grand Jury declined to indict 39-year-old Joshua Freyermuth on those charges but did indict the Alliance resident on one count of aggravated possession of drugs.
Freyermuth was picked up last month at a home along State Route 62 in Knox Township after a boy told police that Freyermuth tried to lure away from his dog along South Web Avenue earlier that same day.
At the time, police said Freyermuth tried to grab the child but was unsuccessful and ran away.
Freyermuth was arrested two days earlier on drug charges after police said they found methamphetamine hidden in Freyermuth’s car.
The prosecutor asked the court to dismiss the other charges after the grand jury's decision not to hand up an indictment.
