Support for first responders after deadly house explosion in Ellsworth Township

ELLSWORTH TOWNSHIP, Ohio - Investigators are still working to determine what led to four people being killed in last weekend's house explosion in Ellsworth township. But as they continue their work, it's important they take a moment to care for themselves, also.
Six departments throughout the Mahoning Valley answered the call for the devastating house explosion.
When crews arrived at the scene it was covered in debris and the remains of four people. It was a disaster so vast the Mahoning County coroner's office is still working to positively identify everyone inside.
Fire department leaders say supporting first responders through this tragedy is a top priority.
During disasters like this the aftermath can be difficult to process. But many fire departments like Green Township provide mental health resources like peer support groups to help responders deal with heavy trauma.
"We have a chaplain on staff here so if we have events or situations like this then we sit down with them, we talk to them or we pull in outside resources," Green Township fire chief, Todd Baired told 21 News.
Ellsworth Township fire department will meet with other departments on Wednesday evening to offer the support they need.
The meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the fire station in Ellsworth Township located at 6036 S. Salem Warren Rd.
