The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has proposed a resurfacing project for Routes 14 and 165 in Mahoning County for the spring of 2025.

The project would resurface nearly 14 miles of SR-14 and SR-165 in Salem, Beloit, Smith Township, Goshen Township and Green Township.

Additionally, the project proposes maintenance on six bridges and culverts along both routes and the replacement of a bridge on SR-14 between Calla Road and Smith Goshen Road.

The project would cost $4,464,503 and is currently in its preliminary engineering phase. Right of way acquisition is currently ongoing for the bridge replacement. Construction is expected to begin in spring of 2025.

During the construction period, a minimum of one lane of traffic will be maintained on SR-165. On SR-14, a minimum of one lane of traffic will be maintained except when it will be necessary to close at the bridge site for no more than 21 days.

During the bridge site closure, the detour would utilize Route 224 and SR-534.

Construction, lane restriction, road closure and detour information will be posted within project limits, on all intersecting side roads and the project's website prior to the start of construction.

The project may result in minor stream and wetland impacts and the removal of trees, which may provide suitable wooded habitat for various bat species protected by the Endangered Species Act.
