Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed an executive order for funding for initiatives to help struggling families in the state on Friday.

DeWine signed Executive Order 2024-07D, and some local programs will receive funding.

According to the media release, local agencies receiving funding include:

  • The Brightside Project of Columbiana County will receive up to $100,000 for resources and social-emotional development support for children
  • Up to $1 million for Ohio Suicide Prevention resources for eligible families in Mahoning County and other counties including: Franklin, Butler, Clermont, Cuyahoga, Erie, Gallia, Greene, Hamilton, Hocking, Jackson, Licking, Lorain, Lucas, Marion, Meigs, Montgomery, Morgan, Stark, Summit, Washington, and Wayne counties.
  • Up to $1 million to assist the Ohio Alliance of Boys & Girl Clubs, including Youngstown plus West Chester/Liberty, Greater Cincinnati, Dayton, Massillon, Youngstown, Wooster, Central Ohio, Northeast Ohio, Toledo, and Washington County.
  • Up to $300,000 will assist the Ohio Association of Foodbanks in providing summertime food assistance to eligible children.

Approximately 30 organizations were listed in the executive order for funds that will also provide assistance for food, personal development training, parenting education, providing funds for organizations for new coats and shoes to children in need, temporary housing, housing services, behavioral health services, and more.
