Trumbull County Commissioner-Elect Rick Hernandez talks day one plans heading into office
In the race for commissioner in Trumbull County, Republican Rick Hernandez beat out Democrat Dan Polivka to take Niki Frenchko's seat, along with Republican
Tony Bernard grabbing hold of Democrat incumbent Mauro Cantalamessa's seat. It was a red wave in Trumbull County, Hernandez calling it the result of the people wanting change.
"I believe that they're looking for new names, new blood so to speak," said Hernandez. "A situation where we have new vision that we have new ideas that could move and propel our county forward," he said.
Hernandez said it's the "chaotic situation," in the commissioners office that inspired him to run in the first place and his first order of business will be to rectify that.
"On day one, with this new commissioner's board, it will be a wonderful situation for the employees especially who have had to endure all that chaos," Hernandez said.
Hernandez believes if unity begins at the top, it'll trickle down to the rest of the county and help build everyone up.
"When you're united and you work for the betterment of the people, your employees will have an opportunity to want to come to work to enjoy work," Hernandez said. "They don't wanna be you know, put in a position of having to wonder what's gonna happen today," he said.
After that, Hernandez said he wants to get started on tackling property taxes.
