The Ohio State Highway Patrol and Mahoning County Coroner's Office are investigating after a fatal crash in Beaver Township.

The crash happened around 11:15 a.m. on Market Street, also known as State Route 7, near the Ohio Turnpike.

Troopers say the 2020 SUV was traveling northbound on Market street when it traveled of the right side of  the road and struck a utility pole.

The driver, 66-year-old Sam Yovanovich of Youngstown, was injured in the fiery crash. However, a 77-year-old passenger, Karen Mraz of Columbiana, was killed.

Both people in the SUV were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.

OSP does not believe that drugs or alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
