Brookfield school district submits offer to purchase event center
The board of education in Brookfield is looking to purchase Tiffany's Banquet Center. School district administrators want to transform the property into a multi-use space for the community.
The district's chief financial officer (CFO) Jordan Weber, told 21 News that they are currently in the negotiation stage with the current owners of the center.
If the school district decides to purchase the building, the facility would focus on items like education, mental, and physical health services.
"It would be [like a] community learning center model as opposed to just classroom space. There would be mixed spaces for classrooms [and] community outreach," Weber said.
The CFO and other administrators are hoping to partner with some local health organizations.
Weber said the general fund revenue would likely support the purchase and grant money would be used for remodeling.
The district hopes to reach an agreement soon and have the center purchased in the Spring. Weber told 21 News that the completion of the project could be within six to nine months.
The building, which sits between the board of education office and school campus, went on the market earlier this year. It is listed at $990,000, but it is unclear how much the school district would pay for it.
