The Trumbull County Tourism Bureau is looking at ways to attract more visitors to the area.

Members of the county's tourism bureau board have been working on a strategic plan that will help shine a light on what Trumbull County has to offer and bring in more tourism dollars.

“Our goal is to bring visitors inside of this area from a 50 mile radius and beyond. But we really realized that it's just as important for our residents to be excited about all the cool things there are to see and do in Trumbull County,” said Beth Kotwish Carmichael, executive director of the Trumbull County Tourism Bureau.

Stacey Hoover, Vice President Trumbull County Tourism Bureau Board, presented the plan at the bureau’s annual meeting.

“We hope that there will be some continued support in Trumbull County, and we are just here to support it,” said Hoover.

The hope is to show why the county is worth visiting.

“In 2025, we really feel like we are going to make our mark and remind everyone what Trumbull County does, why it's so amazing to be here, why it's so amazing to visit here. We have things like the Grand Resort, we have the Italian food trail, we have these beautiful historic charming little towns,” said Hoover.

Board members came up with a five pillar plan to attract more visitors to the area. The plan is focusing on the following:

  • Empowering strategic marketing
  • Enhancing boards impact
  • Equipping travel industries workforce
  • Enabling growth through destination development
  • Elevating community engagement and support

The Bureau has been putting the plan together for years. Now, they are ready to put the plan in action.

“Our boards, starting in January, February and March, are divvying up each one of these strategic pillars, and they will be spearheading those. And we will be asking our partners here in Trumbull County to help,” said Carmichael.

In 2023, the county's tourism and travel industry brought $600 million in direct visitor spending, and created $27 million in tax revenue. This equates to $720 in tax burden relief for each household in Trumbull County.
