BOARDMAN, Ohio - Three elementary schools in Boardman received a special delivery of nearly 2,400 books for students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade on November 19.

These monthly deliveries of books for elementary schools in Boardman and Youngstown will continue through the end of the school year.

This delivery is part of the Boardman-Youngstown Kiwanis Club's Eisenbraun Books for Kids Program. This program allows students in Boardman and Youngstown elementary schools to receive a book each month that they are able to take home, keep and share with family.

"We are so grateful to Boardman Kiwanis! Putting books directly into the hands of our students activates their imagination, instills their love of reading and also gives our families the opportunity to spend quality time reading together at home," said Boardman Director of Instruction, Jared Cardillo.

The Eisenbraugn Books for Kids Program was created to honor long-time member Tom Eisenbraun for his passion for children and fundraising, which helps this opportunity become a possibility.

The Kiwanis Club states that this project is meant to promote confidence and develop life-long habits.

According to the Kiwanis Club website," Children who grow up reading develop a life long love of learning... A two-decade study long study found that the mere presence of a home library increases children's academic success, vocabulary development, attention and job attainment."
