The Brookfield Township Police Department and Fire Department worked together to rescue two dogs from a sewer in Masury.

The dogs were discovered by a man walking his dog down the street.  His dog wouldn't move from the sewer grate due to sensing the dogs that were stuck under it.

The Brookfield Township Police Department was then informed of the dogs stuck in the sewer. Police then called Healthy Hearts and Paws Project President and CEO Jason Cooke to come to the scene.

The Brookfield Township Fire Department was also on the scene and they were able to safely remove one of the dogs from the sewer.  The other dog however ran into a sewer pipe and ended up getting stuck.

Jason Cooke and a firefighter had to try and fit themselves into the pipe and go in to rescue the dog.

"The second rescue involved myself and another firefighter descending into the cold, wet sewer and contorting our bodies in ways that would make a circus performer smile and give a person with claustrophobia a panic attack," Cooke said.

The second dog was rescued by Cooke and the Brookfield Township Fire Department.

The owner of the two dogs called after Cooke made a Facebook post about the rescue and will be taking them back home.  The dogs had apparently gotten loose. It is unknown how they got in the sewer.
