Man who allegedly attempted to abduct Youngstown woman has bond set
A man on probation who was by Youngstown police arrested for allegedly attempting to abduct a woman on Wednesday was in court Friday.
48-year-old Mark Parker, who had recently been released from prison for raping a 15-year-old girl in 2000, was in court Friday.
Youngstown Municipal Judge Renee Disalvo set Parker's bond Friday at $75,000, electronic house arrest monitoring, and no contact with the victim.
Parker was convicted in 2003 of the rape of a 15-year-old girl who was babysitting when the electric power was shut off inside the house by breaking in through a basement window. Parker confronted the babysitter and the children at gunpoint.
Parker took the 15-year-old girl upstairs where he told the girl if she screamed, he would kill her and the children. Parker placed the cocked gun on the floor and raped the girl. Parker, before he left the house, told the girl if she called the police or left the room, he would kill them all.
Parker was released from prison in May of this year after serving over 20 years for the charges of Aggravated Burglary, Kidnapping, and Rape, and now facing parole violations as well.
On Monday, a woman reported to YPD that someone tried to abduct her on her way to work, adding that she had noticed a man was following the bus she was on from stop to stop, leading to the arrest of Parker.
Police were able to track down the suspect's location using surveillance cameras.
No date has been set for Parker's next date in court appearance.
