Crashes keep crews busy New Year's morning

BOARDMAN TWP., Ohio - The New Year brought little celebration for first responders in the Valley as they were called out to accidents after midnight.
One person was struck by a car near the Struthers Plaza along Youngstown Poland Road.
Police told 21 News that they couldn’t release information about the accident or the victim’s condition.
In Boardman, there were a couple of crashes along Southern Blvd.
A car sheared off a utility pole just south of Indianola Road. It’s unknow if anyone was injured.
A short time later about one mile south, police said a car knocked down a fire hydrant near the rear entrance of Akron Children’s Hospital. The hydrant landed in the middle of Southern Boulevard and the car was damaged.
Officers say they found a woman running away from the crash scene and were questioning her about the accident.
