A Warren man that has been accused of robbing a Niles used jewelry store, assaulting a Warren police officer and being involved in a hit and run accident has been indicted on numerous felony charges.

Erick Rivers, 31, of Warren has been charged with aggravated robbery with a repeat offender specification (F1), felonious assault with a repeat offender specification (F1), three counts of felonious assault all with repeat offender specifications (F2) and a vandalism specification (F5).

The next court date for Rivers has not been set at this time.

Rivers was set to be arraigned last week, but was unavailable because he was at a behavioral health facility. Rivers' attorney had requested a competency evaluation.

The case against Rivers stems from multiple incidents involving him on December 5, 2024. He was accused of stealing about $200 from a used jewelry store in Niles. According to the police report, he used a chair found in the business as a weapon.

Later that same day, Rivers' allegedly attacked a Warren police officer who was responding to a traffic accident on Northwest Bridge Road and Mahoning Avenue NW.

Police body cam footage showed a man swinging a pole and striking the officer. According to police reports, two citizens helped the injured officer capture Rivers'.

Also on the same day, reports stated Rivers' vehicle rear-ended a car carrying three occupants, where he then fled the scene.

Records show that Rivers' was also convicted of a first-degree aggravated burglary with a firearm specification in 2014. He was given a four-year prison term for this incident.
