Catholic Charities was awarded funding from the Mahoning County Commissioners in partnership with the Mahoning County Homeless Continuum of Care.

Mahoning County Commissioner Carol Rimedio-Righetti tells 21 News commissioners awarded Catholic Charities $43,000 to fund motel rooms for about 21 families without homes.

Rimedio-Righetti explained that Catholic Charities was awarded $50,000 last year for the same cause, but only $7,000 was spent. This $43,000 will cover the remainder of that.

According to a press release, Catholic Charities will support folks who are unable to stay with family or friends or at a local shelter by providing rooms at motels between now and March 30, 2025.

If you need assistance or know someone else who does, you can call Catholic Charities at 330-744-3320 Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Any after-hours calls can be directed to 211, where callers will be connected to the PATH Street Outreach Project with Help Network, who will arrange for motel accommodations if no other shelter or housing option is available.
