Sharon Walgreens location set to close February 17

A Walgreens store in the Shenango Valley is scheduled to close in February.
A spokesperson for Walgreens confirmed with 21 News that the drug store's location on East State Street in Sharon will be closing its doors permanently beginning February 17.
In a statement, the spokesperson said this closure is due to struggles with keeping up with costs associated with rent, staffing and supply needs.
"It is never an easy decision to close a store. We know that our stores are important to the communities that we serve, and therefore do everything possible to improve the store performance. When closures are necessary, like the one in Sharon, we will work in partnership with community stakeholders to minimize customer disruptions," the statement reads.
The statement goes on to say Walgreens intends to retain jobs for the majority of employees from the Sharon location.
If you get your prescriptions from this location's pharmacy, your prescriptions will be sent to the location at 3229 East State Street in Hermitage. This process is automatic and customers do not need to take any action.
No other Walgreens stores in the Mahoning or Shenango Valleys are expected to close at this time.
