LOOP Youngstown Arts & Culture Center is presenting five free workshops designed and cultivated specifically for working artists.

Each workshop has limited space and pre-registration is required. Interested artists may register by visiting the LOOP website.

Information on parking varies depending on which workshop is attended. Additional information may be found on the registration form of each workshop.

The different workshops are as follows:

How to Build an Artist Website, taught by Elizabeth Franklin at Oak Hill Collaborative, 507 Oak Hill Avenue, Youngstown.

  • Session 1: January 21, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Session 2: February 11, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Session 3: March 4, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Session 4: March 25, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Session 5: April 15, 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

During this workshop, participants will learn how to build and maintain a portfolio-styled website using WordPress.

Required technology from participants, according to the registration form, includes an email address, a laptop with internet capabilities and artwork in a digital format. Options are available if a participant does not have a laptop of their own.

How to Enter Art Shows, taught by David Wheeler.

  • Workshop 1: January 27, starting at 6 p.m. at ART ON PARK, 180 North Park Avenue, Warren. This workshop is in conjunction with The Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County.
  • Workshop 2: February 10, starting at 6 p.m. at ART ON PARK, 180 North Park Avenue, Warren.
  • Workshop 3: March 10, time to be determined at The Butler Institute of American Art, 524 Wick Avenue, Youngstown.

This is a three-part workshop and lecture series designed to discuss the importance of being active in the arts community, making and improving work and how to become exhibition ready.

Writing Artists Grants, taught by Dragana Crnjak at the McDonough Museum of Art, 525 Wick Avenue, Youngstown.

  • Session 1: February 28, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • Session 2: March 28, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Session 3: April 25, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

This workshop will focus on expectation and preparation of common artist grant applications. It will also take a look at the Ohio Art Council's Individual Excellence Awards application process.

Behind the Scenes of Art Exhibitions, taught by Robyn Maas at the Trumbull Art Gallery, 158 North Park Avenue, Warren.

  • Session 1: April 28, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Session 2: April 29, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Session 3: April 30, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

This workshop will allow participants the opportunity to gain insight into how an art exhibit comes together. Participants will also be able to interact with the curator.

Accounting for Artists, taught by Jennifer Nesmith.
