C's Waffles adds egg surcharge due to rising costs
NORTH LIMA, Ohio - C’s Waffles is the latest local restaurant to adjust its prices in response to soaring egg costs. The owner, Andrew DiBacco, says egg prices have skyrocketed to $105 per case—about 58 cents per egg, causing a $600-a-week increase in expenses for the restaurant.
To offset some of the additional costs, the restaurant has implemented a 50-cent surcharge on dishes that include eggs. A sign inside the restaurant informs customers of the change, and a Facebook post was made to explain the decision.
“We’ve been eating that cost, but with a $600-a-week increase in our bills, it’s just not sustainable anymore,” said DiBacco.
While some customers have voiced concerns, many regulars have expressed understanding, acknowledging similar price hikes at grocery stores.
The owner hopes to remove the surcharge if egg prices drop, but for now, the additional charge remains in place.
