Howland's Grace Villwock Signs with John Carroll University to Continue Soccer and Academic Career

The Howland Tigers proudly announce that senior Grace Villwock has signed with John Carroll University to continue her academic and athletic career. A four-year letter winner and starting varsity player for the Howland Girls Soccer Program, Grace has been a vital part of the team’s success over the past four years.
Head Coach Greg Mitchell had high praise for Grace, highlighting her impact both on and off the field:
"Every coach wishes to have a player like Grace on their team. Her speed, tireless work ethic, and competitiveness make her stand out on the field. These attributes are only further emboldened by her positive demeanor, kindness, unembellished sportsmanship, and a team-first mentality. Her success over her four years can certainly be attributed to these characteristics—not only as a player but, more importantly, as a person."
Grace’s talent and leadership earned her numerous accolades, including First Team All-Conference honors for three consecutive years and First Team All-District recognition as a junior and senior. She played a crucial role in securing two All-American Conference championships for Howland, consistently ranking among the team’s top three in points, goals, and assists. Her senior year was especially memorable, finishing second on the team in assists and goals during a record-breaking season. The Tigers swept the conference and achieved a historic milestone—defeating rival Canfield both home and away for the first time in 17 years, a fitting accomplishment for the player who proudly wore jersey #17.
Off the field, Grace excelled academically, earning a 3.917 GPA and receiving the Senior Academic Award from the Mahoning Valley High School Soccer Coaches Association. Her leadership and commitment were further recognized when she was overwhelmingly chosen as senior captain by her teammates. Additionally, she was honored with Howland’s Girls Soccer Tiger Award in both her sophomore and senior years, recognizing her sportsmanship, leadership, and unwavering dedication to the team.
Grace’s impact on the Howland Girls Soccer Program has been undeniable, and her future is bright as she takes her talents to John Carroll University. The entire Howland school community congratulates Grace and her family on this incredible achievement. We thank her for her dedication to the Tigers and wish her all the best in this next chapter of her journey.
