Former bank in New Castle reopens as sushi, Asian-fusion cuisine restaurant

A nearly century-old historical bank in New Castle has recently reopened its doors, not for cashing or depositing checks, but instead for handing you a 'check' after you finish eating.
Le Resto — a sushi and Asian fusion cuisine — recently opened inside the landmark building at 101 E. Washington Street in New Castle.
The new owner, who bought the building in 2020 for $365,000, kept much of the classic design and elegant styling from the bank — including the chandeliers, clocks, marble interior and more.
The restaurant is owned by An Luong Penn, who was born in Vietnam and moved to Germany as a boy. Luong's family owned a restaurant in East Germany, near Poland, where he worked in his youth. His family moved to the US and lived in Boston before relocating to the area.
The restaurant offers East Asian cuisine, including Vietnamese, Thai, and Japanese food. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday.
