YOUNGSTOWN - More than 100 vendors set up shop at the Youngstown Flea on Saturday. Sweet treats were a large part of February's Valentine's Day theme with vendors specializing in breads, cookies, cake pops and more.

“I love supporting small businesses,” Julia Vargo, a frequent Youngstown Flea shopper said. “You always find unique and different homemade creations… things that you don't usually find at other stores.”

The Made with Love section of the market kept up with the theme with handmade items from shirts to jewelry.

“I love to shop and I love the new vendors… it's just a nice atmosphere, calming, nice,” Karen Navoyosay, another flea market shopper said.

The Youngstown Flea is celebrating its 10th year in business. It’s grown exponentially over the years with almost 38 vendors at the first market to now hosting more than 100.

The mission over the past decade has stayed the same, bringing makers and shoppers together to support each other.

“It's an opportunity to buy American, as well as adding onto that, buying local because buying local helps us to keep dollars in our own community and it helps support someone right here trying to realize their dreams and goals,” Derrick Mcdowell, the founder of the Youngstown Flea said.

Bringing regulars back every month to get their favorite treats and explore new vendors local to the valley.

“I just love coming here,” Navoyosay said. “It's just a unique, nice Saturday morning.”

The Youngstown Flea will continue every month. The next flea is set for March 8 and will be St. Patrick's Day themed.

Other flea dates are set for May 10, May 11 (Flea At Fellows), June 14, June 15 (Fathers Day Flea), July 12, August 9, Sept. 6, October 4, Nov. 1 (Flea On Phelps), Dec. 5 (Holiday Flea), Dec 6 and Dec 7.
